This is how I will be there for you, my friend
Monday, October 26, 2015

This is how I will be there for you

1) Encourage you to talk; ask you what’s on your mind

If you seem sad -- something might be on your mind, something might be bothering you.
I'll ask if I can help. I'll tell you, "Let me know if you need help, call me if you need me, I will be your listening ear."

If I get the feeling that you don’t want to talk, I'll ask in a nice way, then leave you alone. I will make an effort to show that I genuinely care about you.

2) Give my full attention and listen carefully

If you're brave enough to share what is on your mind, I'll listen to you without interrupting or offering advice. I will pay attention, focus on you, and try to understand the way you see your problems, and how that makes you feel. Then depending on the situation, I might offer help and advice. I feel that most people just want to be heard, so I will not nag or advice too much (but again, depending on the situation).

3) I know that it's all about you, not about me

I am here to listen to your problems, not talk about my experiences. I will put myself in your shoes. I will not say too many "If I were you" because I am not you. I here to listen to you, not to be annoying and make you feel worse. I will listen with an open mind and a open heart.

This is how I will be there for you, my friend.

Introvert
Friday, October 10, 2014

I'm very sure that I'm an introvert,
and I find joy in having me-time and some alone time
(not the same as being lonely).

I like to sit at home and chill and just enjoy penning down my thoughts and reading interesting articles or magazines or blogs.

I fill up the emptiness in my soul by listening to good music, reading poems, browsing through beautiful photos on tumblr and instagram, and more.

That's the introvert me. What about you? :)

12 hints in life
Thursday, September 25, 2014

1. In the end, it's not going to matter how many breaths you took, but how many moments took your breath away.

2. Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

3. The best kind of friend is the kind you can sit on a porch swing with, never say a word, and then walk away feeling like it was the best conversation you've ever had.

4. It's true that we don't know what we've got until we lose it, but it's also true that we don't know what we've been missing until it arrives.

5. Advice is what we ask for when we already know the answer but wish we didn't.

6. Don't go for looks, they can deceive. Don't go for wealth, even that fades away. Go for someone who makes you smile because it takes only a smile to make a dark day seem bright.

7. Dream what you want to dream, go where you want to go, be what you want to be. Because you have only one life and one chance to do all the things you want to do.

8. Always put yourself in the other's shoes. If you feel that it hurts you, it probably hurts the person too.

9. A careless word may kindle strife. A cruel word may wreck a life. A timely word may level stress. But a loving word may heal and bless.

10. The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything they just make the most of everything that comes along their way.

11. When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one that has opened for us.

12. The road to success is always under construction.

Rants about friends?
Monday, September 01, 2014

Alright, now that exams are over...I kinda feel bored and useless.
But I'm enjoying this lost and lonely feeling as well.
Must do something productive this holiday doing things I love and enjoy doing.

Anyway, just wanna rant that I dislike making new friends because:

1. Most go, most won't stay by me for long, maybe because I'm a lame shitty friend (& I sincerely apologize for that, and thank you to those who are still my friends till now)

2. I don't have common topic with most people because I'm an introvert living a boring life.

3. I'm ugly so I shouldn't your friend.

4. I'm not that popular.

5. I'm not worth being your friend.

Speak of which, I now think that some guy friends are so much easier to speak to that girl friends.
They are more open-minded, less sensitive, more expressive, more direct, more friendly. But in many ways, I still prefer girl friends because we kinda have more to talk about, but some guy friends are just nice and easy to speak to. Glad to have made a few good friends in poly and let's hope that our friendship will last; while some friendships are starting to shake and wobble and start to get unstable.

7 (more) facts about me
Thursday, July 10, 2014

I did a "7 facts about me" post last year, read it here if you're interested!
Here's another 7 facts about me.

1. Eating nice food makes me really happy.

Nice food such as TOASTED bread + butter (Eat this most of the time for tea-break, really YUMMY and I put a lot of butter. Especially love it when butter MELTS on top of the toasted bread.), SMOKED SALMON (I LOVE salmon so much that I'm constantly eating smoked salmon for tea-break/breakfast at least twice a week, can't afford everyday because salmon's expensive...I buy the pre-made smoked salmon from NTUC, damn delicious but expensive. And whenever I visit Jap restaurant, I MUST eat raw salmon.), French Fries (Not fast-food fries but those really salty and tasty and fat fries!! Such as the fries from "everything with fries"), ROJAK (I ONLY eat the damn nice rojak from Old Airport Road, really blessed to be living near there as I eat their rojak 3 times a week!!), scrambled eggs (I have serious obsession with eggs -- I love all kinds of eggs expect runny half-boiled eggs, and especially love scrambled and fried eggs, YUMMY), Soft, fluffy cakes (especially those from Bakerzin), Tiramisu (I LOVE tiramisu cakes, I love anything tiramisu!!)

2. I'm a really lazy person. I'd rather sleep or use my laptop & phone and just stay at home (unless I'm motivated to do something).

...which kinda explains why I only worked for 3-weeks at TLL even though I had 4 months of holiday after graduating from secondary school. I'm just really lazy and can't get things done. During the holidays, I sleep till noon almost everyday and laze around for the whole day, eat food and satisfy my cravings, and then watch tv till past midnight and back to sleep. The cycle repeats unless I have sudden motivation to do something or need to get something done that day or have to go out that day. Even I'm annoyed with how lazy I am.

funny lazy girl bed mess

3. I don't really read books. I can't even finish reading a book.

I have never finished reading any books since secondary 1 (other than lit books in sec 1-2). I TRIED reading but I somehow always read it halfwalf...I'm trying to at least finish reading 3 books this year! (have completed reading a book so far for this year) But overall, I don't really read books because I prefer to read magazines or newspapers with short stories / articles than long stories in books, unless the book really interests me then I'm willing to read the book.

4. (when eating) I get full easily and get hungry easily.

Is it because I have higher metabolism rate? Oh and recently my metabolism rate's dropping and my thighs are getting fatter haha. I think it's mostly because I constantly crave for food so I get hungry easily, but it depends on my mood and appetite that day to see how much I eat before I'm full! But whenever I eat fast food or western food (or other unhealthy, nice meals / junk food), I can eat a lot of it and not get full so easily ahaha.

5. I play the piano, and I enjoy playing the piano.

I'm currently Grade 5 for piano theory and Grade 6 for piano practical. I don't like playing exam pieces, but I enjoy playing songs I like on the piano. It makes me happy and makes me feel good about myself. But I get irritated and annoyed when I can't play the song I want to play on the piano because it just makes me feel useless. And I have a Yamaha U3 upright silent piano! It's bigger than most piano and more expensive because of the silent piano function. I don't usually use the silent piano function though, because I prefer to play / practice my songs out loud and not using the headphone for silent piano function.

6. My current favourite app on my phone is "Instagram"

The people I follow on Instagram inspire me and I love looking through lovely visuals taken by them. I enjoy looking through my Instagram feed and Instagram makes the world a smaller place as we are able to follow and "connect" to the people in other parts of the world! I have a handful of overseas followers and I personally follow a lot of overseas followers as well! I get inspired by their lifestyle & all. I prefer following locals on Instagram though, because here's where I live! If you know me well, I appreciate well-taken photos and lovely visuals, so Instagram is definitely my favourite app :)

7. I love white / transparent colours.

I like white / transparent colours because it makes me feel calm and happy and it's a clean and simple colour. Nothing can go wrong with white colour, and I like visuals with white backgrounds! And I just googled "what does it mean if I like the colour white" and here's my result: http://www.empower-yourself-with-color-psychology.com/personality-color-white.html (not all are true though). Out of all the predictions, I think that "Your deepest need is to create simplicity in your life and to be independent and self-reliant so you do not need to depend on anyone else." is the most accurate prediction.

Day out with Chew on Saturday
Sunday, June 15, 2014

Met up with (Chew) Xin Hui at SCAPE because I wanted to check out the scape flea and collect some apparels I pre-ordered from someone at her booth. I start to dislike going to fleas, because /1/ the clothes are no longer as cheap, /2/ the clothes aren't even nice, /3/ the clothes aren't even fitting, /4/ the clothes are made of poor quality material, /5/ etc.

Had this really expensive meal of Bandito pocket + cheese fries + drink (which I gave to Chew coz I don't like fizzy drinks...) and it cost about $7.50...but I was craving for Bandito and cheese fries so I paid for it ahaha. When I crave for something / want something, I don't really care about the price, because I just WANT IT :)

With Cheryl & Chew
Saturday, June 14, 2014

Had quick meet up with Cheryl & Chew @ Nex some Friday evenings ago.
Glad we met up and chatted a little and went for our failed shopping spree.

The front cam of Samsung phone... kinda sucks when the lighting sucks.
But when using the front cam under good lighting / sunlight... the photos will turn out well.
But everything looks pale when using the Samsung's front cam, haha. The auto "beauty face" cam is kinda extra and redundant, and then my friends always be like "ohh why is it beauty face mode?" and I always have to tell them that it's auto, that I didn't set it to this mode.

The other cam mode on the phone is kinda useless as well haha. I mean, I will use photo editing app to edit my photos if I want to, I just want true, flawful (is there even such a word? Anyway I mean full-of-flaws), non-pale looking photos (other than the fact that I love taking photos against white backgrounds because I just love the colour WHITE).

I kinda have this love-hate relationship with the front cam of my phone. But overall, I still love using Samsung phone and have no intention to switch to using iphone or other phone models.

Time flies, some reality checks, & let me just be me.
Sunday, May 25, 2014

It's officially week 6 of poly school term. It feels like a week ago or so when I met my friends, classmates and everyone else. They say that "time flies when we're enjoying life", though it is definitely true to a large extent, I somewhat beg to differ.

Do I enjoy going to school?
Not at all. Umm well, from the very beginning, I dislike going to school, whether it was nursery or kindergarten or primary or secondary. So overall my answer is I have never enjoyed going to school, though I'd rather school than work. I love to learn, I love learning new things taught in school, I love gaining knowledge, but I dislike mixing around with people I'm not close with, I dislike walking around school because I feel judged by every single person who walk past me, lol.

Do I feel belonged in school?
I've never felt belonged in any school. I was from Adelfibel nursery school, Active Learners kindergarten school, Woodgrove primary school, Crescent Girls' School, & currently in Temasek Poly. I have never felt belonged in any of my schools. Maybe a little here and there, but not really.

And this explains a lot about me.  I prefer to keep things to myself. Because I've never felt belonged anywhere. I do feel the love from my family, friends, people around me. I'm truly blessed with a happy family, good friends, great things. But I still keep a lot of things to myself because... that's just me. I feel that I'm a burden to everyone. So let me just be me.

Don't let {anyone} ever dull your sparkle
Friday, May 09, 2014

There will be people who will dull your sparkle, but hey, you should make your best efforts to avoid these people. Reside with those who bring positivity, joy and peace into your life. You don't deserve any hate or negativity from others; all of you, all of us deserve friends who are supportive of the choices we make, supportive of the things we do, and moulding us into a better person. Leave those filled with drama and hate back wherever they came from. Just some late night random thoughts.

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others." -Marianne Williamson

Think about it. Are we not blessed?
Wednesday, April 30, 2014

Sometimes, we forget how blessed we are.
We tend to be filled with negativity, hatred, and anger, that we forget to fill our life with positivity.
We tend to be too fortunate, too pampered, that we crave for more and nothing is seems enough.

Complaining how much you hate school?

Think about those children who want to learn, have the love for learning, yet are not given the chance or are too poor to be schooled. Think about those who risk their lives and fight for their rights to be schooled -- just because they are so thirsty for knowledge, they want to learn, they want to be knowledgeable.

Complaining how ugly you look?

At least you have a face, at least you can see the world, at least you can hear those sounds. I always complain that I look damn ugly, but at least I have a pair to eyes, a pair of ears, a nose, a mouth, a face. I'm not perfect, nobody is perfect, I'm full of flaws which are stitched together with good intentions. I'm not as good looking as everyone else, but I'm already very blessed and happy with the way I am. Why expect so much when it's already good enough? It can never reach perfection, so just accept it. Everyone has flaws, we all have different flaws, be it an extra toe, a big nose, poor eyesight... but just love yourself and spread positivity to people around you.

Complaining how little clothes you have?

Think about how fortunate you are to have proper garments to wear, to at least a few good pieces of clothes. Think about the homeless or people living in poverty who only have one torn piece of clothing to wear everyday. Aren't we already so fortunate? Of course there is nothing wrong with shopping, nothing wrong with having more clothes, but as I was online shopping earlier on, I stopped and wondered "How I wish I could buy these clothes for them" and with just a new piece of clothing, they'd probably feel like the most fortunate and happiest person on Earth. But for us, shopping is second nature to us such that we forget the true joy of having new clothes. My point is, the more fortunate we are, the harder it is for us to be happy and the more complains we have because we are not satisfied with so many things.

It's normal, but it's bad because we are imperfect humans with imperfect lives.
We must fill our lives with more positivity and spread it to the people around us
-- because they need it too.
