5 beauty looks that you can always count on
Wednesday, April 06, 2016

What are the 5 Beauty looks that you can always count on?

Here is my take on it:

1) Eyes

Getting your eye-liner right is one of the most tricky part of eye makeup.
Here are some tips to follow to get it right:

1. Use makeup remover so that eyeliners are free from oil to ensure smudge-proof application of eyeliner.

2. To get the perfect wing, keep your eyes open, look straight into the mirror, and line the outer corners of the eyes.

3. Ensure that you apply the eyeliner as close to lash line as possible to appear more natural.

2) Lips

1. Moisturise lips or use lip primer to make sure that your lipstick or lip gloss stays flawless all night.

2. Lip liner to line your lips! This is what pumps up your lips and makes them look amazing. Just a little lip liner along the outside of your lips will give them volume and shape. Stick to a lip liner that goes well with your skin tone and lipstick colour!

3. Use matte base lip liner to look more natural as it won't draw too much attention. Makes you look like you have effortlessly flawless lips!

3) Brows

It's common knowledge that eyes are the window to the soul, thus making eyebrows the frame of the face. Eyebrows are the most important facial feature. The arches aren't just an aesthetic, they also reflect on your character and can affect your first impression from others.

Trims and shape eyebrows regularly to ensure that they are neatly groomed. Eyebrows can drastically change your look and add character to your face, so play around with different brow shapes and intensities before choosing your type of brows!

Eyebrows on fleek!
4) Blush

In order to apply blush where it will be most flattering on you, first determine your face shape. Blush adds colour and also contours and defines cheek bones. The way you apply blush can make a big difference -- it can accentuate your best features and also softens too prominent ones.

Follow the simple guide above to make your best features stand out.
Now you're looking so radiant and gorgeous!

Aww, don't make me blush.

5) Hair

I'm sure that all of us want perfectly groomed, non-fizzy hair and shiny locks.

1. Invest in good dry shampoo instead of washing your hair everyday. It will help to reduce oil build up in hair and retains shiny and silky hair! One good tip is to wait for a few minutes for dry shampoo to absorb oil in hair before combing or styling hair. Be a little more patient for luscious hair!

2. Shampoo scalp, not roots. Overdoing things on the product front will do more harm than good. (Opps, I must admit that I overdo washing my scalp and roots sometimes too) Healthy hair starts in the shower so it is important to use the correct and right amount of shampoo and conditioner for your hair and level of damage.

3. Brush from the bottom to the roots of the hair. Brushing from the roots causes damage because the bottom of the hair tends to tangle and more force is needed to brush through the roots. Thus, always remember to brush from the bottom and work up!

Have fun dolling up and stay beautiful!

Love
Thursday, March 31, 2016

I believe in connections. I think you can meet someone, and with no real explanation, just know they will be important. You can vibe with one another, laugh and joke until the bar shuts down. You talk until the whole world shuts down. But it’s not love. It can’t be love. Not yet.

Love at first sight can't exist when love requires so much more than physical appearance, a glance, or a look. Love requires commitment and ugliness. It requires letting down barriers and guards, and letting him see the side of you no one else has ever seen before. Love requires time and mutual connection.

I didn't love this right away. It wasn't until much later, when you cared for me when no one else did, when you made me open up to you so much which I never did before, when you made me feel so special and important.

But love wasn't enough. Love at first sight doesn't exist, but when it's right, when the love is ready and willing, it will bloom. It will blossom and you might have to trim some weeds along the way, but if you take care of it, it will be enough. It will survive. Love is tough. When it's right, it will endure. Unless it just hasn't been right yet.

This is my take on love, edited from an article from the thought catalogue. What about you?

Handwritten cards
Thursday, March 10, 2016

We rarely pick up a pen and paper to communicate with one another due to the convenience of text messages and emails. However, when writing is used as a form of communication between people, such as cards, letters and postcards, the impact of such messages lasts far longer than any messages sent through high-technology.
I like to nurture friendship and stay connect with people by writing cards once in a while. Some people may not appreciate it as much as I do appreciate handwritten cards, but I'm sure that they'll appreciate the effort. It shows how much I care to buy a nice paper and write my heartfelt words with my favourite pens and markers. It does take much effort to make a nice handwritten card, but I love writing them to show my appreciation to friends and people around me. They may lose it, throw it, misplace it; but I will still continue to art of handwritten letters.
Handwritten cards are still priceless.

Fragrances

Scent is powerful. It has this ability to instantly transport, remind, and to excite. Your scent matters as it is what makes you feel like a million bucks or it could uplift you in an instant on a gloomy day. Perfume do establish an identity and your friends might be able to recognise your scent. Some of us like to have different types of fragrance for different occasions -- daily use, evening use, or for special occasions; while some prefer to have unique signature scent.

I love fragrances (such as Salvatore Ferragamo fragrances Singapore) which are sophisticated yet lasting, sweet but not too much of flowery fragrance. All of us want fragrance that keeps us fresh at every breath to last us through the day. Good fragrance keeps us clean and fresh, and may draw us compliments which boosts one's self-confidence.

When choosing perfumes, I go for the smell and aesthetic of the perfume. (Yes, smell matters the most but aesthetic of the perfumes do matter to a large extend too!) For example, this Ferrgamo's Signorina EDT looks so aesthetically pleasant in a classy perfume bottle with my favourite colours (lilac and baby pink)! Infused in crisp and sophisticated scents, the smell makes me feel and smell good throughout the day. I feel great and ready to start off the day after putting on my favourite scent!

The scent features a potpourri of currant, pink pepper, jasmine, peony, rose, just to name a few. I love the jasmine and rose scent, so this fragrance is great because the infused combination smells so good. I really love its feminine scent and the beautifully-shaped fragrance bottle!

Here's some tips to last your scent throughout the day! Spray your fragrances on:

1. Hair

(Fragrances latch onto fibres, and strands of hair carrying the scent will last longer. However, the alcohol content in the perfumes may dry out the hair, so delicately comb through the scent through your hair instead of simply spiriting directly to your hair.)

2. Ears

(Behind the ear lobes -- the body is warmer at this pulse point, which helps enhance the fragrance)

3. Collarbone

(The dips in bone structure will allow perfume to settle there)

4. Wrists

(They serve as pulse point and area of enhanced heat to further amplify the scent)

5. Clothing (my favourite tip!)

(For additional perfume power, as the scent particles cling onto the fibres of clothing, and involves less direct contact with the skin, especially good for people with sensitive skin)

Valentine's Day idea
Monday, February 01, 2016

Valentines Day is coming! Forget the standard chocolate and flowers. If the idea of buying chocolates and flowers sounds cliché to you, try something new instead. Impress the love of your life with one of these inexpensive distinctive picks:

1) Ride the Singapore Flyer

It will be romantic riding the Singapore Flyer, especially when it stops and both of you feel like you're on top of the world. Enjoy the view and each other's company while chatting and admiring the modern Singapore city. It's important to have time together without distractions where you can nurture conversations and spend quality time together. Snap some photos to remember the memorable date on Valentine's Day!

2) Prepare a meal together

Instead of dining at expensive restaurants or dressing up to town with your Valentine, why not prepare a meal together and enjoy the process of preparing the meal with him/her? This is a healthier option to prepare home-cooked meal while saving time (dressing up) and money (spent on dining at restaurant). Ensure that you plan the meal in advance, buy the ingredients and find recipes to enable you and your Valentine to eat better with less effort spent in meal preparation.

Cooking and preparing a meal with your significant other who loves doing everything
with you is a wonderful thing. Explore new recipes together, discover new ingredients and enjoy the process of it all!

3) Buy gifts for him / her

The key to love has absolutely nothing to do with the price tag and the amount spent to pamper on each other. Love is all about making your partner feel understood, loved and treasured. This could be surprising him/her with a classy dress (for her, of her favourite colour and design) or a watch (for him, of his favourite colour and size), which shows that you've been paying attention to what your partner loves.

Here are some gift ideas for him / her

For him:

Gorgeous and classy watches for men. The design is clean, yet bold. If he likes to wear watches, consider buying him a watch! Or how about a flat top felt hat? If he like dressing up and adding hat to complete his outfit, this is a great gift for him. Moreover, these gifts are very affordable and useful for him. Guys love gifts too, so do surprise him with the things he likes! He will be glad to wear the things you buy for him to show that he appreciates them.

For her:

Girls love clothes, shoes and accessories and we can never have enough of them. However, you should not simply pick out a top or dress and gift it to her. You should pay attention to what she likes, and perhaps buy the bag that she's been eyeing for months and buy the dress you think would look great on her! She'll know that you put in effort and thoughts when purchasing the gifts to her liking. Does she like bucket or structured bags? Does she prefer black or dusty pink colour? Guys, pay attention to what she likes and get one for her!

How will you be spending your Valentine's Day?
Who will you be spending it with?
Go hang out with your friends / partner / kids / parents, and shower them with love!
